Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. What is Online Banking?
A. Online Banking is an Internet-based banking service that gives members 24-hour access to their accounts for reviewing account histories, making transfers and loan payments, setting up transaction alerts, and much more. Online banking is 100% free of charge.
Q. Is Online Banking safe? Are my accounts secure?
A. Generations Federal Credit Union has taken many steps to ensure that your financial transactions are secure when you are entering Online Banking through the Internet. The two most important security features of Online Banking are your password and your SSL (secure sockets layer) enabled browser.
For your protection, Generations Federal Credit Union requires you to register for Online Banking via a multi-step registration process referred to as multi-factor authentication (“MFA”). MFA represents a more secure way to protect your personal information than merely relying upon a single password.
Generations recommends that you memorize your password and do not write it down. You should never give your password to anyone. In addition, we recommend that you periodically change and do not use easily identified passwords.
To enhance the security of your password, when you enter the Online Banking system, you will have only a limited number of times to input your password. If you exceed the limit, Online Banking will deny you entry into the system, even if you enter the password correctly after the limit is exceeded. If you accidentally become blocked from entering Online Banking, please phone our eService Center at (210) 230-9381 (8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m, Monday – Friday, 9 am to 1 pm, Saturday).
If you think your password may have been compromised or you notice any unusual activity on your Generations Federal Credit Union account, phone our eService Center at (210) 230-9381 (8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m, Monday – Friday, 9 am to 1 pm, Saturday). You can also change your password online immediately using Online Banking. Keep all documents that include your account information in a secure place so that confidential information cannot be obtained by others. These documents include ATM receipts, account statements, your ATM Personal Identification Number (PIN), and your Online Banking password.
SSL Enabled Browsers: Your SSL enabled browser contains the necessary encryption algorithms to “scramble” the information that is transmitted between you and the Generations Federal Credit Union computer system. This ensures the confidentiality of information you submit electronically. For this reason, we recommend that you use the most recent versions of Mozilla Firefox version, Google Chrome, Apple Safari or Microsoft Internet Explorer version.
