Member FAQ:
Online & Mobile Banking Password Requirement Changes
Effective August 6, 2024
What are the details of the new Online/Mobile Banking password requirements?
All members who are currently registered for Online/Mobile Banking will be required to reset their password to meet the new password security standards beginning August 6, 2024. This requirement is for the enhanced security and protection of your online account(s).
Will this password reset be required for all Online/Mobile Banking users?
Yes, all users will need to complete the required password changes beginning Aug. 6, even if your current password already meets the new security standards. This includes both consumer and commercial accounts.
What can I expect when I attempt to login on or after Aug. 6?
When you attempt to log in on or after Aug. 6, you will automatically be prompted to create your new password. A list of the specific requirements will be given to you on screen at that time. Please note that you will also need to enter your current password for verification purposes BEFORE you can create the new password.
What if I don’t know my current password?
If you cannot recall your current password because you have been logging in through Face ID or Fingerprint ID, or your device has your password auto saved, please utilize the “Forgot Your Password” link from the main login page beginning Aug. 6. This will satisfy the update requirements.
I have been logging into the mobile app with Face ID. Do I still have to update my password?
Yes. When you attempt to login with Face ID on or after Aug. 6, you will be prompted to change your official password. Once the new password has been created successfully, you should log off, then select “Face ID” from the login screen. You will then be prompted to enter your new password and Face ID setup will be completed once again.
What if my current password already meets the new password requirements?
Even if your current password meets the new requirements, we are requiring that you create a new password as a best practice in safeguarding and securing your online accounts.
Do I need to update my password for Online Banking and the GFCU Mobile App separately?
No. Once you update your password in either place, it will be effective across Online Banking and the mobile app.
Can I update my password to the new requirements in advance of Aug. 6?
No. If you update your password prior to Aug. 6, you will be required to update it again on that date. This is a blanket password update for all users.
Why is GFCU requiring this update?
We are requiring this update as a means by which to further enhance the protection and security of your online account information. These changes are for your benefit to continue to safeguard your information at the highest level possible, which is our highest priority.
