Generations Federal Credit Union Unveils Expansion, Business Plans

One Castle Hills

February 28, 2022 (SAN ANTONIO) – Generations Federal Credit Union on Monday announced it will expand its footprint in Bexar County with the addition of three full-service branches, and establishment of a new Credit Union headquarters following an extended period of growth.

In early February, Generations FCU acquired the One Castle Hills business tower located at 1100 Northwest Loop 410. The 157,000-square-foot, eight-story building will serve as Generations FCU’s new headquarters.

Conveniently located in the heart of North Central San Antonio, the new headquarters will also have a full-service branch, replacing the San Pedro Branch. Generations FCU CEO Ken Raymie said his team is aiming to have the new headquarters fully operational by late 2022.

Additionally, GFCU revealed the locations of three new branches it plans to construct:

  • 1604 and Northwest Military Highway
  • 1604 and Bulverde Road
  • 1604 and Potranco Road

Generations FCU will communicate updates to members on tentative opening dates for the respective branches as the process develops.

“These enhancements allow us to better serve our members in rapidly-growing areas of Bexar County,” Raymie said.

While the Credit Union’s new headquarters is more than six times larger than its current headquarters, Raymie said his team will look to lease out much of that space under the leadership of Mark Johnston, the Credit Union’s Vice President of Commercial Services and recent San Antonio Business Journal “40 under 40” honoree. The move follows the Credit Union’s permanent adoption of the remote work model. Raymie said the decision was easy after seeing an overall increase in productivity.

By Raymie’s estimation, expansion will create several jobs in the coming years. He added that the Credit Union is continuously seeking to recruit top talent.

Amid the so-called “Great Resignation,” Generations FCU was named one of San Antonio’s Top Workplaces in 2020 and 2021, and Raymie said it’s not by chance.

“The pandemic put what’s actually important into perspective for so many people,” Raymie said. “But for us, it’s something we’ve prioritized since we were founded some 80 years ago: Family.

“We can’t take care of our members if we aren’t taking care of our employees like we would family. When it comes to generous paid time off policies, remote work opportunities, competitive pay, and employee development, we are intentional about prioritizing the needs of our team.”
