Happy New Year! It’s good to be back at work as we have a lot of great things to brag about from 2017, and in 2018, we remain focused on improving efficiency, reducing costs and enhancing ease of doing business for our employees and members. Here are results of our efforts in 2017 and additional items to look forward to in 2018:

On Thursday, January 18, we will be celebrating the opening of our newest branch in the H-E-B Plus! at Stone Ridge Market in Stone Oak. We look forward to seeing you there. The event begins at noon.

We recently wrapped up our new Teller Capture project, which improves our digital check processing. We’re also currently converting our GL system and deploying a new wire transfer system.

Consumer Lending has completed the first of our mobile-enhanced loan application conversions, with additional mobile applications on the way. MIS and the Call Center are collaborating with Consumer Lending to improve the member journey and shorten the duration of application to loan closing.

The Retail Department, Call Center and Consumer Lending are working on team and individual scorecards to ensure consistency and quality of our member experience.

We are launching promotions for MyAdvantage Checking, auto loans, mortgage, home equity line of credit, and credit cards in the first quarter. Our credit card acquisition program will include a special introductory rate of 1.99% APR, for six months on new accounts and balance transfers.

We will be conducting a market assessment of branch locations and in the eight-county area, a website audit, and a member survey. We are looking to tell the Generations story and promote our cultural values within the credit union, and share it with the community through our marketing and community engagement efforts.

We continue to see success in our Mortgage Lending Department, with a figure of $16 million originated for 2017. The Commercial Lending team had a fantastic year of growth, with $51 million in new loans.

We have been partnering with the City of San Antonio Neighborhood & Housing Services Department to offer first-time Homebuyer Education Classes once a month. The classes provide clients information and support to purchase their first home. The next class is on Jan. 26.

Finally, GFCU will once again be participating in the SA Works and Junior Achievement Job Shadow Day on February 2. We will be hosting 12 students from O’Connor High School and will focus on business management and marketing. Here is to a successful 2018!
