There are several initiatives that started within the first half of the year that we can now look forward to seeing come to fruition as we head into the remainder of 2018.
Probably one of the largest of these initiatives is the conversion of our online banking and mobile banking platforms. This new and improved virtual banking experience will allow our members to bank anytime, anywhere and from any device like never before. With this change, our members will have a much more unified and streamlined money management experience from desktop to mobile in order to check their accounts, pay bills, make loan payments, deposit checks, locate branches and transfer funds. This launch has been much anticipated, and will facilitate our goal of becoming easier to do business with. Stay tuned for launch details.
Marketing has also been working with Human Resources to create employee recruitment videos to help encourage new and future hires who are pursuing many of the career opportunities at the credit union. These videos will feature employee testimonials and their personal experiences working within various departments and positions here at GFCU. The goal of these videos is to help us continue to attract exceptional staff members and encourage current staff members through their career development at the credit union.
As you know, the Board nomination process also officially kicked off on July 2, 2018. The deadline for turning in completed applications is no later than 5:30 p.m. on Friday, August 17, 2018. Applications are available for download at www.mygenfcu.org/boardapplication, and can be submitted via mail or in-person at Headquarters.
Our Mortgage team hosted their first realtor networking event at our Northwest Branch at the end of June to start building stronger relationships with area realtors. On July 8th, we set up a booth at the Missions’ Hero Appreciation Night, honoring first responders, and we will be participating in a second Missions Night on July 15th. We are so happy to have had the opportunity to support the Missions, our first responders and our community through our participation in these events. More than 30 employees also participated in the 100 Club of San Antonio’s Meatball Roll on July 13th. The meatballs that were rolled by our staff were used for the organization’s Annual Spaghetti Dinner on July 14th, which helps raise funds to support their cause of providing educational assistance to the children of fallen first responders.
