It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Rose Rangel, Board Treasurer, and long-time member of the GFCU Board of Directors, on November 20. 2021.

Ken Raymie, GFCU President & CEO, states, “Rose was a caring and dedicated board member. In addition to looking out for members’ interests, she was always very staff-focused.”

Rose served Generations FCU for 34 years. She initially volunteered as a committee member in 1987 and was elected to the Board in 1996. She held various officer positions, also serving as chair and member of various credit union committees. Rose’s leadership was recognized in the credit union industry, where she was Chair of the National Association of Credit Union Chairmen and member of the Women’s World Council of Credit Unions.

Her passion for community service extended to local professional and civic organizations, including the Retired Employees of the City of San Antonio, Urban Management Assistants of South Texas, the Pan American League of San Antonio, the San Antonio Association of Hispanic Journalists.

Rose was an ardent supporter of lifelong learning. After graduating from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences, she continued study through the UT Austin LBJ School of Public Affairs Management Program, the City of San Antonio’s Leadership Development Program, and training in credit union governance.

Rose retired from the City of San Antonio after 35 years. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Celestino “Dino” Rangel, Jr., who passed away in January 2021.

We are grateful for the leadership, commitment, and dedication that Rose shared with our Generations FCU community for these many years.
