MyGenNews CEO Corner

As we enter the final quarter of the year, there are numerous projects and successes to update you on.

First, I’d like to share the results of our 2018 School Supply Drive. Employees and members collected back-to-school supplies for local San Antonio children from the end of July until August 31st. At the conclusion of our drive, employees delivered 600+ backpacks and hundreds of other various school supplies to boys and girls in need. Thank you to all our generous members and staff for your donations.

One of the largest initiatives that our credit union undertook this year was the conversion of our online banking and mobile banking platforms, which officially launched August 22, 2018. This new and improved virtual banking experience allows you to bank anytime, anywhere and from any device like never before. With this change you can expect a much more unified and streamlined money management experience from desktop to mobile to check your accounts, pay bills, make loan payments, deposit checks, locate branches and transfer funds. This launch also represents one more way we are continually striving toward our goal of being easier to do business with.

There has been no shortage of community involvement amongst our staff over the last few months. Supporting our membership and community through these events is something that we truly enjoy as an organization. In July, more than 30 staff members participated in the 100 Club of San Antonio’s Meatball Roll. The meatballs that were rolled by our staff were used for the organization’s Annual Spaghetti Dinner on July 14th, which helps raise funds to support their cause of providing educational assistance to the children of fallen first responders. We sponsored three San Antonio Missions home games in July, including a Heroes Appreciation Night where we honored our first responders. Staff also attended the Mayor’s Housing Summit in September. With summer now behind us and the fall underway, we are preparing for some of the biggest community initiatives of the year, including our annual Turkey Express event and Blue Santa toy drive.

I would like to thank all of you who took time to complete one of the Member Surveys that were sent out in the spring. The consolidated answers and feedback from those surveys is now being reviewed by our leadership team to see your satisfaction level, as well as to identify key areas of improvement. Your answers and feedback about our organization are a critical part of our continued progression forward, and I thank you again for taking the time to tell us what you think.

I look forward to updating you on all that is to come through the end of year in our next newsletter. Thank you, as always, for your valued membership.
