How old do I have to be to open my own checking account?
Students as young as 16 years old can open their own checking account. Having a parent as a joint owner on your account is totally up to you.

You can apply online if you are 18 years or older. If you’re 16 or 17 years old, just visit a branch location and we will take care of you.

How much do I need to open an account?
You will only need to deposit $5.00 into a Savings Account to establish your membership with the credit union.

Is there a monthly fee to have an account?
Members receiving paper statements for their GFCU accounts will be charged a $2 per statement fee each month. The fee will be charged to the GFCU share account. The paper statement fee is not applicable to members under the age of 18.
