August 2021 – #GFCUCares Events

National Nonprofit Day

GFCU celebrated National Nonprofit Day on Aug. 17 by highlighting the relationships we have cultivated with nonprofit organizations who assist the members of our community. GFCU supports these nonprofits through direct sponsorships, volunteer efforts and technical assistance from our leaders who serve on boards and committees.

GFCU also provides each full-time employee with 16 hours paid volunteer service per year (eight hours for part-time employees), and our team members annually donate tens of thousands of dollars for charity.

We would would like to recognize the following organizations for their dedicated service within San Antonio and its surrounding regions: Blue Cares SAPOA Outreach, The 100 Club of San Antonio, The American Red Cross Serving Central and South Texas, Any Baby Can of San Antonio, Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Antonio, Boysville Inc., and San Antonio Sports.

Corporate Cup Charity Challenge

GFCU won this year’s Corporate Cup Charity Challenge and raised $11,224 in donations for Boys & Girls Clubs of San AntonioHaven for HopeSan Antonio Food Bank, and San Antonio Sports. We also collected 57 units of blood donations for Connect for Life #SouthTexasBloodandTissueCenter. This was all made possible by our amazing GFCU participants, including our athletes, fundraising committee, team leaders and organizers. Together, we are proud to have delivered on our brand of Member Owned, Community Grown!
