bcso-foundation-100-club-saCongratulations to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office on the unveiling of the first-ever Bexar County Sheriff Office Foundation, a non-profit organization that aims to further public safety by funding continuing education for peace officers and special equipment needs for deputies and their K-9 units. The 100 Club of San Antonio presented a $25,000 check on behalf of Philanthropist Kym Rapier as seed money for the foundation. The San Antonio Area Foundation will be assisting in the management of the foundation’s funds. Congratulations BCSO!

boysville-june-birthday-celebration-pOur hearts are full after spending the day with the children from Boysville, Inc. to celebrate their June birthdays! Boysville is a nonprofit organization that provides a safe, family environment to San Antonio children in need.

We also want to give a big shout out to the San Antonio Police Officers Association and Blue Cares SAPOA Outreach for their support in putting on this event and providing a great bar-b-que meal for the children. And many thanks to the SAFFE officers who attended the event as well!

Rebeca Canizales graduating from the City South Leadership AcademyWe’re very proud to congratulate our Member Engagement Associate Rebeca Canizales, who last Thursday graduated from the City South Leadership Academy (CSLA), a 9-month leadership program of the South SA Chamber. Further, Rebeca’s class raised $10k in college scholarship funds which were awarded to seven high school seniors at the CSLA ceremony. Rebeca also serves as Co-Chair of the South San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors Program, which welcomes new businesses to the Chamber and serves as an ongoing champion/liaison for these members.

Team members at the annual Gathering of Angels LuncheonOn Friday, our team members attended the annual Gathering of Angels Luncheon hosted by Boysville, Inc., a non-profit organization that helps provide a safe family environment for children in need in our community. The annual luncheon recognizes supporters, volunteers, staff members, and all members of the community that support Boysville’s mission. Generations’ VP of Member Engagement Letty Gonzales is a board member of Boysville and attended the luncheon, along with our Executive VP & COO Ken Raymie and Chief Lending Officer Kim Kieny.

Speaker from the The First Chance Foundation at the annual Ribs & ‘Ritas eventThe First Chance Foundation, headed up by Clint and Lisa Swindall, raises funds to help support non-profits serving children in need in our area. Last weekend, First Chance hosted their annual Ribs & ‘Ritas event, setting another record by raising over $200,000! Generations is proud to have been a Silver Sponsor of the event. Our Executive VP & COO Ken Raymie, VP of Community Engagement Letty Gonzales, and VP of Commercial Services Mark Johnston represented the credit union at the event.

Donation being made to Animal Care Services in memory of the Fire Department's K-9 KaiOur hearts go out to K-9 Kai, who passed away recently, and her family. Kai was an Acceleration Detection K-9 who worked with the San Antonio Fire Department for nine years. At Kai’s memorial service, donors contributed funds to Animal Care Services to help other rescue dogs like Kai. GFCU Executive VP & COO Ken Raymie and VP of Community Engagement Letty Gonzales attended the memorial event to honor Kai. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kai’s family.

Staff at their table at the State of the County event hosted by the North San Antonio Chamber of CommerceWe learned about initiatives and projects planned for Bexar at the State of the County event hosted by the North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce. We were happy to share a table with our friends from KFW Engineers & Surveying and their guest, Chief of Staff for the Mayor’s Office Trey Jacobson. Company at the 2019 San Antonio Sports Corporate CupWe had a blast at the 2019 San Antonio Sports Corporate Cup!  We spent the morning scoring points on frisbee toss, football toss, sack race, tug of war and more! Afterward, our team happily enjoyed some homemade bar-b-que and relaxed at the Athlete’s Village.
