Run to Remember 5K
The GFCU team joined the annual Run to Remember 5K to show our support for the Riojas family and The 100 Club of San Antonio. This event was established by the Riojas family to honor San Antonio Police Department Officer John ‘Rocky’ Riojas, End of Watch February 3, 2001. In partnership with the #100ClubofSanAntonio, Run to Remember brings our community together and serves first responder families, both fallen and active duty, to provide Hope Out of Tragedy.
National First Responders Day
This National First Responders Day, we honor those who keep our community safe and protected. We are especially grateful for the special partnership we have with the San Antonio Fire Department.
Please help us acknowledge Deputy Chief Andrew Estrada, Assistant Chief Bryan Norris, Randa Brown, and Chris Velasquez of SAFD who were hosted by GFCU and recognized by San Antonio Business Journal as Health Care Heroes in last week’s awards ceremony. As a group, they played key roles in the management and coordination of new COVID procedures and protocols during the ongoing community health emergency, including the facilitation of testing at numerous locations throughout the city, creation of screening procedures for employees, the establishment of vaccination sites, administering vaccinations to homebound patients, partnering with Metro Health on case investigations, and enhanced organizational health policies and protocols to ensure a healthy workforce. Thank you for putting our community first!
We appreciate all of the hard-working health care heroes on the frontlines! ❤️ Learn more here
Food Bank Meal Preparation
Our team members prepared and packaged a total of 4,300 meals and raised an additional 11,200 meals last week as volunteers at the San Antonio Food Bank.
We are honored to help support the Food Bank’s mission to fight hunger in Southwest Texas. The Food Bank serves children, seniors, working adults, single parents, veterans and the homeless in our community and region who are at risk of going hungry.
Our President and CEO Ken Raymie attended the event and presented a meal check to San Antonio Food Bank President and CEO Eric Cooper. We appreciate the Food Bank for hosting our staff and allowing us the opportunity to help with their efforts!
Top Workplace 2021 Staff Appreciation
We’re celebrating our Top Workplace win! Earlier this month, we held a drive-up gift pick up for our team members to say congratulations and thank you for making GFCU a great place to work! Each staff member took home a bag of goodies as a small token of appreciation.
Our successes would never be possible without our incredible GFCU staff members. We are incredibly grateful for their continued commitment to our members! #GFCUCares #TopWorkplace
Light the Night Walk 2021
Our amazing and generous GFCU team members raised over $20,000 in donations for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society – South Central Texas #LightTheNight2021 Walk. We hosted our event on October 7th, lighting lanterns with other walkers across San Antonio to celebrate survivors, support those battling blood cancer, and remember loved ones lost to blood cancer.
Thank you to our members and teams for supporting all our fundraising efforts. Your #GENerosity is appreciated! #LLSSouthCentralTexas #GFCUCares
San Antonio Fire Museum Golf Tournament
We’re helping preserve the legacy of SA Firefighters by supporting the The San Antonio Fire Museum! Did you know that in GFCU’s first decades, our very first part-time employee was a firefighter at the original Fire Station No. 1 on E. Houston Street downtown?
Proceeds from the SA Fire Museum Golf Tournament on October 4th benefit the museum’s educational programs and restoration of this part of our community’s history. Learn more about the museum at https://www.sanantoniofiremuseum.org/.
7th Annual Fore! Any Baby Can Golf Tournament
Our partners at Any Baby Can of San Antonio hosted one of their biggest annual fundraisers, supporting programs for families and youth with serious health or developmental challenges. We were happy to sponsor and volunteer at the 7th Annual Fore! Any Baby Can golf tournament to help make this year’s event a success!
