We put your financial needs where they belong: above our own.
At Generations, we make a simple promise – to do the right thing for our members. That means seeing them as relationships that last a lifetime, not as transactions that come and go. Unlike most financial institutions, our services are transparent and our employees are empowered to act on behalf of our members.
GFCU is redefining the role of a credit union by being a trusted advisor to our members, teaching skills that empower them with financial success. We continually offer a variety of free, financial education resources— portals, study guides, videos, calculators and more.
You can tell any bank what your business needs. The trick is finding one that hears you. Generations puts the time in to give businesses the attention they deserve. And with more than 60 years experience, we have the industry know-how to meet your company’s needs.
Anyone who lives, works, worships, volunteers, attends school or owns a business in Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Kendall, Medina and/or Wilson County is eligible to join Generations. All immediate family members of those listed above are also eligible for membership.
Credit unions are economic democracy. Each Generations member has equal ownership and one vote — regardless of how much money a member has on deposit. At Generations, every member is also an owner. You can make your voice even more powerful by volunteering to serve your fellow credit union members. Learn more about Credit Unions.
Generations provides insurance to their members from the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an independent agency of the federal government. This means that your money deposited in a federally insured credit union is insured up to $250,000, similar to the insurance provided by the FDIC (Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation) to banks. The shares in your credit union are insured by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), which is backed by the full faith and credit of the United States Government.
