June 2022 – #GFCUCares Events

Clarity Child Guidance Center: Clarity Fest

Every year, the Clarity Child Guidance Center hosts Clarity Fest, an appreciation event for their employees! This year, we were honored to be able to volunteer our time to help make the event a success. The Clarity Child Guidance Center is the only non-profit hospital in South and Central Texas that provides pediatric mental health treatment and prevention services. Their team of heroes see over 8,500 kids from across the state every year. We were glad to be able to give back to their team that does so much for our community. The event was SO MUCH fun, and we were happy to help out!

SAFD Hero Like Her
“The heroes are the young women who are choosing to enter the fire, who are choosing to say, ‘I see the challenge, and I’m going to walk through it.”💪🏼 This weekend, we sponsored and lent a hand at the San Antonio Fire Department Hero Like Her camp. Hero Like Her is aimed at introducing more young women to the firefighting profession. Participants had the opportunity to try out different aspects of the profession, from handling hoses to suiting up. We are proud supporters of the Department’s efforts to empower these young women and look forward to seeing more women take up the mantle of hero in the years to come! Check back here for more details on the next camp ➡️https://www.herolikeher.com

To all the June birthday kiddos at Boysville, Inc., we had a great time celebrating with you!  🎉 Our VP of Member Engagement, Letty Gonzales, who sits on the Boysville Board of Directors, put on a great party with the help of our GFCU family! We’re proud to offer our continued support to the Boysville mission and would like to extend a tremendous THANK YOU to the San Antonio Fire Department, Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Javier Salazar, the San Antonio Police Department and the San Antonio Spurs Coyote for joining in on the fun and helping us prep, serve and clean! A special thank you to Js Party Rentals for graciously donating two water slides that were a hit at the birthday bash!

First Chance Foundation: Ribs and Ritas

The only thing better than an award-winning plate of ribs is an award-winning plate of ribs that benefits a great cause! We had a blast at the Ribs & ‘Ritas event, which raises money for the First Chance Foundation and their efforts to support children who have been abandoned, abused, or neglected. We were also able to present First Chance Foundation founders Clint and Heather Swindall with a one-of-a-kind MVP (Most Valued Partners) belt for their constant support of Generations FCU, and, most recently, Clint’s help coaching our San Antonio Sports Corporate Cup Tailgate barbecue team.

Communities in Schools of San Antonio Annual Luncheon

The Generations team had the opportunity to support Communities in Schools of San Antonio at their annual luncheon last week. Communities In Schools of San Antonio is headed by their CEO, Jessica Weaver (third from left). CIS-SA is embedded in campuses across Bexar County, providing students of all ages the resources they need to stay in school and excel in life! Our Vice President of Mortgage Lending, Brent Mora, is one of CIS-SA’s newest board members. He says building strong leaders for the future begins with keeping them in school! Here’s more on how you can support CIS-SA: https://bit.ly/3PK2Nvt
