April – June #GFCUCares Events

The #GFCUCares Team proudly presented a $2,846 check to SMART, made possible by the incredible GENerosity of our employees. SMART continues to strengthen emotional health through experiential arts education and nurtures students as mindful community leaders.

Our partners at Blue Cares showed up and gave big to the children at Boysville celebrating June birthdays. Blue Cares provided decorations, fired up the grill to serve hot dogs, hamburgers, and sides for everyone to enjoy. GFCUCares employees each chose a child to sponsor and purchase their birthday wish list. We were honored to support Boysville’s mission, alongside Blue Cares, to give children a safe, loving family environment where they can grow into responsible adults.

We’re thrilled to share that #GFCUCares raised $19,703.62 for the 2025 Corporate Cup Charity Challenge! Thanks to the incredible #GENerosity of our staff, members, and community partners, these funds will directly support local non-profits doing vital work. This year’s beneficiaries are San Antonio Sports, Boys & Girls Club of San Antonio, Haven for Hope, San Antonio Food Bank & South Texas Blood.
Our team also rolled up our sleeves to give blood and helped save 123 lives! All of our branches and staff helped collect 525 hygiene items for Haven for Hope. Our branches also collected non-perishable food items for the San Antonio Food Bank. We collected 262 pounds, worth $34,646.22 in meals provided.

#GFCUCares proudly supported The 100 Club of San Antonio’s 52nd Annual Heroes luncheon, an event dedicated to honoring our community’s fallen heroes and ensuring their families receive continued remembrance and support.

During National Police Week, our #GFCUCares Team had the privilege of visiting the San Antonio Police Department stations in partnership with Blue Cares. We delivered delicious treats from Panaderia Jimenez as a small token of our immense gratitude!
We are deeply thankful for the courage, commitment, and daily sacrifices of our law enforcement officers. We also extend our heartfelt respect to the families who stand beside them and honor the memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

The #GFCUCares Team spent time helping sort through books and load them on the Book Buddies Bus to be distributed through the SAISD Foundation to local students. This effort was about more than just providing books; it was an opportunity to engage with the community, fostering a love for reading among children. We took delight in assisting the kids as they selected their perfect summer reads, ensuring each child found something special to spark their imagination.
