October – December 2025 #GFCUCares Events

San Antonio Firefighters Toy Drive
We are proud to team up with the San Antonio Fire Department for another year of collecting new, unwrapped toys for kids in our community. Our dedicated staff demonstrated immense #GENerosity by volunteering at the toy collections and sorting, PLUS raising an amazing $2,628 for SAFD to buy even more toys. Thanks for helping us brighten the holidays for kids in our community!

Police Turkey Express
It was an honor to deliver a Thanksgiving feast of smoked turkeys and all the trimmings to our brave officers at the San Antonio Police Department, Castle Hills Police Department, and Balcones Heights Police Department. We’re so thankful for their dedication to keeping our communities safe during the holidays and throughout the year!

Firefighter Turkey Express
The #GFCUCares Team was honored to support our local heroes! This Thanksgiving season, we celebrated our 13th Annual Turkey Express, delivering turkeys and hams- and plenty of smiles- to first responders across our community.
We partnered with SAFD Chief Frausto and SAPD Chief McManus to visit San Antonio Fire Department stations and dispatch, Balcones Heights Fire Department, and Castle Hills Fire Department. SAFD’s Sparky, SAPD’s McGruff, and the Blue Cares Blue Bear even joined in to help our teams spread holiday cheer.

Blood Cancer United Light the Night Walk
The #GFCUCares Team was proud to participate in Blood Cancer United’s Annual Light the Night Walk—honoring survivors, supporting families, and remembering those we’ve lost. Thanks to the generosity of our employees, vendors, and members, we ranked second among corporate donors in our community, raising an incredible $18,159.

100 Club of San Antonio Meatball Roll
Teamwork was on the menu at the 27th Annual Meatball Roll! GFCU was proud to help roll thousands of meatballs while supporting an amazing cause – The 100 Club of San Antonio!

Rising Leaders Book Drive
The Rising Leaders cohort went above and beyond! Together, they collected 1,081 books for the Texas YES – Little Lockers Program, filling 36 little lockers across our community. Even better, 123 additional books found homes in other neighborhood library lockers, spreading the joy of reading even further.
