Q: What is the application deadline?

A: The application must be submitted online to GFCU before 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2017.

Q: Am I eligible to apply and receive the Future Leader Scholarship?

A: All GFCU members in good standing that will be attending an accredited higher learning institution during the 2017-2018 academic year are eligible to apply and receive the scholarship.

Q: Is there a minimum amount of time the applicant needs to be a member of Generations?

A: No, there is no minimum time requirement for members.

Q: Is there a minimum GPA required to apply?

A: Yes, to be eligible you need to have a cumulative GPA of 3.0+ (average grade B).

Q: How much are the scholarship awards?

A: There are ten (10) scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each.

Q: Can I only use the scholarship for tuition?

A: The scholarship award can be used for any education-related expense. Education-related expenses are determined at the discretion of the school.

Q: What do I need to do to apply?

A: Navigate to www.MyGenFCU.org/Scholarships and complete the electronic application. Paper applications are not accepted.

Q: Do I have to attend a four-year college to be eligible?

A: No, Future Leader Scholarship awards are available to anyone who currently attends or plans to attend any two- or four-year college or university as well as any continuing education, vocational or trade schools during the upcoming 2017-2018 school year.

Q: I’m enrolled in online courses. Can I get a scholarship for that?

A: Yes, as long as the institution is accredited.

Q: How will I know if my application was received?

A: You will receive an email after applying to let you know that your application was submitted successfully.

Q: I submitted my application and did not receive an email. What should I do?

A: If you don’t receive an email from us after submitting your application, call (210) 554-3556 to check on the status.

Q: How will I know if I’ve been awarded a scholarship?

A: All applicants will be notified by email of the outcome no later than Monday, April 24, 2017. If you are selected as one of our Future Leader Scholarship recipients, you will also receive a call from us.
